I’ll have to go back and read my own blog, but I don’t believe I have covered this particular matter in enough depth. This car is a Magnet for attracting attention. A really powerful People Magnet. If you want to remain inconspicuous, or stay out of the spot light, do not buy a Tesla. If you really want to have a Tesla, then be prepare to accept a somewhat constant job of being polite to complete strangers at any given moment. It’s not uncommon for people to expect you to roll down your window, to scream out to them, “IT’S A TESLA”, while driving 75 mph down the interstate. That’s because they’ve pulled up next to you and they’ve rolled down their window to ask you!!! In the past 4 weeks, we have had countless conversations with literally hundreds of people regarding the car. We have probably sold half a dozen Model S reservations already. We have been stalked by cars, followed into parking lots, we’ve given people test drives in the car, allowed them to sit in it, taken pictures for people with the car next to them, hide inside and then pop out of our Frunk (a common stunt). I think I saw that on youtube already, and I’d like to recreate it. I bet every Tesla owner feels a little like a Tesla Motors spokesperson. Maybe eventually this attention wears off, but maybe by then, it will be time to get the Model X.
